Abstract

Human anisakiasis is a disease caused by the opportunistic infestation of the third stage larvae of family Anisakidae. Ingested larvae invade to the gastrointestinal wall and cause clinical symoptoms. Gastric anisakiasis is commonly diagnosed by
endoscopic technique, while intestinal anisakiasis is rare because it is less common and the clinical and radiologic pictures are poorly understood.
The authors report a case of human anisakiasis involving the distal ileum in 31-year-old man who admitted for suggestin of the acute appendicitis. He had a history of eating squid about seven days ago. The exploration revealed the severe
inflammatory
change of the distal ileum. The segment of affected ileum was resected and anisakis larva was confirmed.
